Oulton Hall Wedding Photographer

Wedding Photographer at Oulton Hall

Oulton Hall is a proper grand Yorkshire wedding venue, but that doesn’t mean your photos need to feel stiff or overly formal. The staircase, gardens, terrace areas and impressive building give us loads to work with, while the best photographs still come from people being themselves.

I’ve photographed weddings at Oulton Hall many times, so I know how to balance the classic venue shots with the natural moments that actually tell the story of the day. A few portraits using the building and grounds, yes. Hours of posing until everyone’s had enough, absolutely not.

This venue works brilliantly for weddings with lots going on. Guests arriving, people gathering in different rooms, drinks outside, speeches, evening guests turning up ready for the party. I’ll be there for all of it, not just the obvious bits.

If you hate having your photo taken, you’ll be fine. I’ll give you enough direction so you’re not left wondering what to do, but I’ll keep things relaxed and normal. No weird posing, no forced smiles, no pretending you’re in a perfume advert.

If you’d like to chat about your Oulton Hall wedding photography, just get in touch and ask me anything.

If you don’t need or want a wedding photographer there for the full day and into the evening, then my ‘essentials’ package is perfect for you.

You’ll get me for 3 hours and I’ll start 30 minutes before the ceremony to capture your friends and family as they arrive. Followed by the ceremony itself, any formal group photographs and my signature newlywed couple photographs.

Full Day

£1,600

/ Full Day

If you want your professional wedding photographer around for a little longer, into the evening, then this one’s for you.

I’ll start 2 hours before the ceremony so I can capture the bridal preparations. Right through until 2100! I must admit, attending the wedding breakfast and into the evening, makes for some of the most creative shots – especially when people are acting naturally and not particularly posing!

Full Day + Video

Complete Coverage

£2,200

/ Full Day

If you’d like your wedding to be memorable from every angle, then the ‘Complete Coverage’ is the absolute best package for you.

I’ll be there alongside another professional wedding photographer (I collaborate a lot, so my colleague’s standard is on par with my own) and a videographer. As there’ll be 2 of us, we’ll be taking photographs from many different perspectives, which will give you an even greater set of memories to cherish.

Alongside, a videographer will take live footage which will be edited into a 5-minute video.

Booking this package together ahead of time, will save you £300 should you add afterwards.

Beautiful albums to preserve and exhibit your special day. These albums come in all sorts of sizes and colours. All albums are presented within a matching display box. Ask Matt for examples.

Albums can be purchased anytime, even up to a year after your big day.

Second Wedding Photographer

A second photographer is available on request to increase your image count and get lots of different angles of your big day.

A second professional photographer is something I would highly recommend every couple add to their day. As well as more images, the coverage will be far greater as I can only be in one place at once. And also, the more photos the better right?

£425 – Ask Matt for details!

Highlights Video – Highly Recommended

I am pleased to be able to offer a lighter, more budget friendly highlights video. I don’t shoot the video, it is done by a member of my staff who has worked with me for 3 years now. Don’t worry, it’s not cringey, it’s all shot at the same time as me meaning it has zero impact on the timings of the day. Clips from key parts of the day are edited to copyright free music.

£500 – Longer videos available on request

Frequently Asked Questions

Oulton Hall gives you a great mix of grand hotel, gardens, staircase and Leeds countryside. It suits couples who want a venue that feels polished and impressive, but still relaxed enough for natural, fun wedding photography.

Here are a few common questions couples ask me about wedding photography at Oulton Hall.

Can you use the staircase without making the photos feel too formal?
Yes. The staircase at Oulton Hall is a classic spot, but it does not have to feel stiff. I’ll use it for a few elegant portraits if it suits your day, but I’ll keep things relaxed so you still look like yourselves rather than people trapped in a stately home brochure.

Is Oulton Hall good for larger weddings?
Yes, it works really well for bigger weddings because there’s plenty of space and the venue has a natural flow. From a photography point of view, that means I can capture guests arriving, mingling, moving between spaces and enjoying the day without everything feeling cramped.

Where do group photos work best at Oulton Hall?
That depends on the weather, the light and how many group shots you want, but there are several good options around the entrance, gardens and terrace areas. I’ll keep them organised and as quick as possible, because nobody books a wedding so they can stand in a line for an hour.

Can we get a mix of classic and candid photos at Oulton Hall?
Absolutely. Oulton Hall is great for that. You can have a few classic portraits using the building, staircase and gardens, then the rest of the day can be captured naturally with all the real moments, reactions and chaos that make the photos feel personal.

Does Oulton Hall work well for evening photos?
Yes, especially if you want a few atmospheric shots later in the day. The building, entrance and indoor spaces can all work well once the light changes, and it’s a good chance to get something a bit different without taking you away from the party for long.

Your Oulton Hall Wedding Photographer

I’m Matt, a Yorkshire wedding photographer with over 15 years’ experience, and Oulton Hall is a venue I know well. It’s grand, it’s impressive and it gives you loads of options for wedding photos, from the staircase and gardens to the terrace areas and those quieter little corners that are useful when you want five minutes away from the crowd.

Oulton Hall has that classic wedding venue feel, but I don’t think your photos should feel old-fashioned or overly formal. A few smart portraits? Absolutely. Endless standing around while everyone slowly loses the will to live? Not for me, and probably not for you either.

I’ll capture the day as it actually happens. The build-up, the ceremony, the confetti, the hugs, the speeches, the little looks across the room and the evening guests arriving ready to cause trouble on the dance floor. The venue gives us the backdrop, but the people give the photographs their meaning.

If you’re nervous in front of the camera, don’t worry. I’m used to that. I’ll keep things light and easy, give you just enough direction when you need it, and make sure nothing feels awkward or forced. Most couples are surprised by how painless it all is. Some even enjoy it. I know, shocking.

I’ve been lucky enough to pick up plenty of awards over the years, including awards voted for by the brides and grooms I photograph. That means more than any shiny badge, because it comes from the people who actually had me at their wedding.

So, if you’re planning your wedding at Oulton Hall and want natural, relaxed photography from someone who knows the venue and knows how to keep things calm, I’d love to hear from you.
