Sam & Joey At Deepdale Farm

Both Sam and Joey are Psychologists and I had the pleasure of sharing an office with her in my previous career. They’re both very laid back people and it very much showed in their wedding day.

They were to be married at Deepdale Farm up in North Yorkshire and had dressed the venue all by themselves with the help of friends and family. It was my first wedding of this style and must say I really really enjoyed it. I think it helped that the area really suited my style of photography.

On the day I struggled to find Joey, so gave her a quick call. I asked if there was a sheep laid on the road outside where she was staying. Yes was the reply, followed by ‘Thats how we roll here in North Yorkshire’ Hahaha.

I walked in and must say we were blessed with amazing light falling in through the huge windows of the converted barn. Amazing for photographs. Joeys stunning dress was from Lace and Co in Horbury.

All throughout the prep, Joey couldn’t stop smiling, there wasn’t any sign of nerves at all!! I think it helped that her bridesmaids were keeping her fed and watered with prosecco and cheese on toast!!

Now, heres Joeys Dad seeing his daughter looking out of this world!! Now, Papa G as he is also known, insisted on a mobile coffee cart. In the days following the big day, it was widely regarded as one of the best decisions! I for one was very very grateful for the coffeee and all the snazzy syrups to go with it. This was provided by EspressoVan Gogh

So once we were all good to go we headed to the farm, what a beautiful venue. All trimmed up using items from Ikea and other bits and bats. All the furniture was hired from Black event furniture.

Being married myself, I completely understand how a groom feels when the bridesmaids have made their entrance, and you’re waiting for your fiancee. Its a special moment that you’ll never forget. I love the top image of this set of 3 from the ceremony.

Sam and the boys got their suits from Joshua Adams in Cleckheaton. Loved the colour and style!!

After the ceremony it was party time, 2 baths filled with icy water and a mass selection of alcohol for their guests to give a home to. We took the formal photos and also managed to fit a few of Mr and Mrs West into that time.

Then it was time for food. Now…..I am certainly not a vegetarian, however Sam and Joey are!! I must say, I was very very impressed with the food!!! All cooked fresh on-site and all I can say is Wow!!!!! It was provided by El Kantina. Mexican veggie food is a must try if you haven’t.

After dinner it was speeches time, lots of sentiment and laughter around the barn. Speeches is a favourite time of the day for me. Especially when the groom is getting some stick from his best man!!

After the dinner it was more drinking and celebrating. We took Joey and Sam, and also some of her bridesmaids off to create some more images. We went into the cornfield, up the road and here are some of the photos….

Some of the photos I presented to them, I gave them an old school film, effect to. I think it really fit in well with the style of wedding. The 2 images above were edited in that style.

As the light started to fade, the party atmosphere came to life. More food was available and this time it was a mobile pizza oven!!! Genius!!! Wood Fired Pizza Company were the guys who took care of this. Unfortunately I had a wedding the following day or I would have been taking full advantage of the endless amount of pizza’s coming out of that oven.

Just as the sun was dropping we ventured up to another corn field to get the best vantage point to create a beautiful sunset image.

A lot of credit has to be given to Joey, she trusted me and went wherever I recommended.

Soon it was first dance time, shortly after the band plugged in. The band were called The Air Waves

I knew they were going to be good when they blasted out Rock n Roll Star for their sound check. The guests partied the night away and I hear it was a good old knees up with some sore heads the following day!!

They honeymooned in Mexico and Joey has set me an all inclusive record to break!! I’ll be giving it my best shot when we nip to Cuba in January. Congratulations guys, can we do it again????
