Samantha & Dave at Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel

Rogerthorpe Manor was the choice of venue for Sam and Dave for their big day. They got married before in a church quite close to Rogerthorpe Manor which gave great variety in their wedding photos, and also allowed a quick stop to grab some photos in a corn field between venues!

Rogerthorpe Manor near Wakefield is a popular wedding venue and I have had the pleasure of photographing there on a few occasions now, with plenty more to come in the future.

Rogerthorpe Manor offers the wedding photographer ample opportunities to create stunning wedding photographs. A well looked after lawn, a folly, a swing and other little nooks and crannys.

To the day itself, on my previous career I worked with Samantha’s parents, and very closely in fact with her Mum. When they asked me to be their wedding photographer I was over the moon. They’re a lovely lovely family and I knew I would do their daughters big day justice as well as being able to spend time with them again.

Bridal prep started at their parents house, Steve and Sue looked after me and the team well and in no time it was time to get married. The church, was quite possibly the darkest church I have ever photographed in and thats saying something in the height of summer!!!! On the way to Rogerthorpe Manor, I asked if we could stop at a local corn field on order to grab one of the wow shots. We did that and nailed some amazing photos. I did get savaged by something in the process, not quite sure what, but for the next 5 days my leg went a slight tinge of purple and swelled considerably. 4 weeks on I still have scab on my leg!!! The photo was well worth it though.

On arrival at Rogerthorpe Manor unfortunately we had intermittent showers, but my assistant kept a keen eye on the weather and we got outside for formal group photos. We always try to make time for family photos too for other guests, fortunately the weather relented for long enough and we get plenty.

After some emotional and funny speeches it was time for bride and groom photos. The sun was fierce but with the correct use of light and angles we created beautiful images of Sam and Dave which will soon be printed in a wedding album.

Party time was great fun. All guests really going for it which enabled us to capture those action photos. Even the Sam the bride and her two friends managed to grab a selfie on one of my cameras whilst I was away doing something.

For sunset I had a moment of inspiration and decided to photograph Sam and Dave by the swing in silhouette. They came out amazing and at the time of writing one photo is the cover photo for the Rogerthorpe Manor facebook page.

All in all an amazing day with amazing people, capturing amazing memories.
